FEATURE: The young, ambitious and dreaming Motlatsi Motseoile

While an idea of standing in front of a judge,  arguing a case on behalf of a client may be a dream come true for some, for Motlatsi Motseoile it was a stepping stone to becoming the judge of his own enterprise. The Tembisa born emerging entrepreneur is a true definition of a hustler. Moz, as he is passionately admired by his allies, is also an avid Lesbian Gay Bisexual Trans Intersex activist, with a wide range of interests and subjects.

When I met up with Motlatsi recently at the Newtown Junction, we had a chat about his upcoming projects. This was a special day for Motlatsi, he was moving into a new office space in the heart of ‘the arty’ Newtown. Although a shift from the Legal profession to Public Relations may be a tough call and one that is full of risks, Motlatsi says going into business has always been part of the plan. He adds that media and communications have always been something he is passionate about.

“When I eventually got tired of pretending to be a happy lawyer, I resigned and served notice and started looking for a job as a PR Consultant, eventually ending up at Quad Republic Communications where I learnt a lot. I now apply knowledge from my legal background both as a business leader and in servicing my clients “Motlatsi said.

Motlatsi’s passion for LGBTI work, combined with his love for writing and digital media has led him to start a digital queer interest magazine. Grandeur is an online lifestyle monthly issue that features queer individuals taking over mainstream spaces.

Motlatsi is a Co-founder and Managing Director of a Johannesburg-based communication agency called Four Fellows Communications. His vision for the agency is for the enterprise to become the authority on creative solutions for brands that wish to reflect the markets they serve. Motlatsi’s hands-on personality can also be seen through his passion for the youth and women. “I am inspired by young people from “the wrong side of life” who work hard and fight for excellence, I am inspired by women who thrive despite the continued preference of men in leadership, I am inspired by ordinary people who are driven,” said Motlatsi.

He believes that the youth of South Africa needs to develop a wider view of the world and take advantage of the many opportunities that exist in their midst. He recently held a township business networking session in Tembisa. The event saw emerging entrepreneurs interact with successful business leaders, motivational speakers and organisations providing business services to Small Medium Enterprises, these organisations included Standard Bank.
